It's
firmly on most people's wish lists of
dream holiday destinations but the number
that have actually been there is very
low indeed making Galápagos an
ideal, aspirational incentive destination.
A
trip to the Galápagos Islands will
always commence with a day or two of rest
and exploration of the historic capital
of Ecuador- Quito soaking in the culture
and acclimatising to the 2800m altitude.
Following
the stop in Quito it is time to board
a plane for the flight to Galápagos
to join your 5 night cruise around the
islands. From the spectacular panorama
of Sullivan Bay and Fernandina Island
to the long, sandy Los Bachas beach the
scenery of the Galápagos is surprisingly
alluring for volcanic isles. However,
the scenery is not the reason why the
Galápagos Islands have taken on
an almost mythical status....
Since
Charles Darwin's visit in 1835 Galápagos
has been world renowned for it's extraordinary
animal population, wild animals of many
different, and often unique species, that
do not feel threatened by human presence.
As one guide puts it "you cant
help thinking youve stumbled upon
an alternate universe, some strange utopian
colony organized by sea lions".
For
a long haul incentive like no other in
the world and one that has that magic
element to drive aspiration then the Galápagos
Islands more than fits the bill.
