Close to a picturesque lagoon along a magnificent stretch of coastline on the southern shore of Sardinia and just meters from one of the best beaches in the Mediterranean lies the resort property of Chia Laguna. The beach, with its soft white sand and crystal clear water, is rated amongst the top 5 in Europe and the lagoon comes stocked with a large family of pink flamingos.
At TMG we are constantly asked to find 'new' destinations suitable for corporate events. Chia Laguna would rate as one of our very best recent 'discoveries'.
Apart from its superb unspoilt natural setting between the soft dunes, sea grass and wooded hills, Chia Laguna is above all an excellent conference venue with outstanding facilities for large meetings and acres of space for exhibitions and new product demos.
The main auditorium offers raked cinema-style seating for audiences of up to 1200, providing excellent sightlines and a high level of comfort. There's another large space for up to 800, lots of smaller break-out rooms and bags of exhibition or display space. Since the weather in southern Sardinia can usually be relied upon outside the winter months, the intriguing range of possibilities includes some impressive open air options, with two permanent outdoor stages equipped with first-rate sound systems.

For dining or evening entertainment, there's no need to venture away from the resort. The superb choice of restaurants includes the classy poolside Art a la Carte and the stylish but informal La Terrazza with its wonderful views towards the sea. If there are sufficient delegates, you could opt to take over Le Dune restaurant by the beach on an exclusive basis, or the newly remodelled Luna nightclub which can cater for 300 diners comfortably. Alternatively large groups could create their own customised dining and entertainment in the area known as the Piazza - in fact the heart of the resort where there are more small restaurants, shops, bars and a pizzeria set around a large square.
Upscale, more intimate groups might opt for the accommodation provided in the main hotel building, where the recently remodelled 72 rooms are sheer 5 star luxury, each with spacious terraces and superb views to the sea.
Alternatively the Chia Village consists of 300 double
or twin-bedded cottages in a Mediterranean garden brimming with
oleander, bougainvillea, hibiscus and ancient olive trees. The
garden itself is laid out around the magnificent pool in tiers
following the gentle contour of the hillside. The cottages are
more rustic in character and lack the luxury feel of the hotel
rooms, but offer a high degree of comfort, quality furnishings,
pleasant decor, nice bathrooms and a full range of amenities
including aircon and multi-channel tv.
Conferences comprising a delegate count around the 300 mark might consider the possibility of taking over the whole resort on an exclusive basis either in early April or late October.
During conference downtime, participants would certainly be tempted to devote a few moments to relaxation on the grass by the pool or head off to the magnificent beach with its neatly arranged sunbeds and parasols, and a good range of watersports. The hinterland is mainly national parkland which can be explored by 4WD, quadbikes, or on horseback. Decent golf is also close at hand.

The Chia Laguna resort is an easy 45-minute transfer from Cagliari, whose airport is modern yet unhurried and simple to negotiate. Services from the UK have much improved of late with both British Airways and 'no frills' carriers operating non-stop flights (approx 2hrs 15mins) from Gatwick and Luton, though larger groups would find chartering more convenient.
