Zanzibar
- The world's first
'zero-carbon' five star resort is being developed in Zanzibar.
The Nungwi Resort, due to open in 2008, claims it will have
no negative environmental impact. Each of the 35 villas will
be self-sufficient, harnessing energy only from the sun and
wind, producing little waste or carbon emissions. The only drawback,
environmentally speaking, is its location requiring a 10-hour
flight from the UK, but guests will be able to offset their
flight emissions.
Jamaica
- Goldeneye
is a villa resort (13 rooms) nestling among tropical forest
and lush gardens on a bluff overlooking the Caribbean to the
east of fabled Ocho Rios. The Zen-style garden is a peaceful
getaway in harmony with the natural surroundings and the lifestyle
is pure Jamaican in style and tempo. Once the island home of
Ian Fleming, Goldeneye is where the author crafted all his James
Bond novels.
